The following log is based on reports from the Holmen and Onalaska police and fire departments.

Onalaska Police Department

Tuesday, May 13

2 p.m. — A store manager at Festival Foods on Crossing Meadows Drive reported finding a baggie with what was suspected to be 3 grams of marijuana. The substance tested positive.

3:33 p.m. — Kwik Trip on the 9400 block of Highway 16 reported a gas drive-off of $50.74. Video surveillance showed a vehicle that was owned by a Tomah man.

6:48 p.m. — A 54-year-old man reported damage done to trees on his property on the 2200 block of Craig Lane West, which is adjacent to a small city park. Six trees had cuts in the bark, branches broken off and one tree had several feet of bark peeled from it.

Wednesday, May 14

8:26 a.m. — An employee at Cost Cutters on the 9300 block of Highway 16 reported someone had attempted to enter the premises overnight. The doorknob had been twisted, possibly with a large pliers. Entry was not gained.

8:26 a.m. — The store manager of Winslow’s Hallmark on the 9300 block of Highway 16 reported someone had robbed the store overnight. The floor safe had been pried from the floor, broken open and robbed of approximately $624.

Thursday, May 15

10:20 a.m. — The manager of the Super Cuts on the 9400 block of Highway 16 reported someone had attempted entry to the store overnight. The alarm bar to the back door had been broken and it appeared the lock had been destroyed by a tool. Nothing was missing.

11:55 a.m. — A 21-year old Onalaska man was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct after shouting obscenities from his car as he passed the Onalaska Police Department’s law enforcement memorial event at Onalaska Cemetery. The man said he had been yelling in his car for many blocks before and after the cemetery because of a fight with his girlfriend.

Friday, May 16

7:07 a.m. — A 37-year-old man reported finding a smoke bomb in his mailbox on the 800 block of 12th Avenue South that was placed there sometime overnight. He reported the smoke bomb had a partially burned fuse but did not activate. The man reported seeing juveniles running through the area the night before and had heard a firework go off in the area of Pinecrest Lane.

2:05 p.m. — Police responded to a bomb threat at Onalaska Middle School. School staff found a note containing the threat and evacuated the school. Nothing was found and the students were returned to classes.

7:02 p.m. — An employee of the Kwik Trip on the 9400 block of Highway 16 reported a gas drive-off of $71.31. Surveillance video revealed a vehicle owned by a Warrens, Wis., woman who reported she had let her boyfriend borrow the vehicle to visit his grandmother in a La Crosse hospital.

Saturday, May 17

2:56 p.m. — A woman who was house sitting for her sister reported that someone had vandalized the house. When she arrived at the house there were many crude comments and pictures on the windows with breasts and penises. It appeared the damage was done with removable window paint and had been directed at a resident there.

Tuesday, May 13

7:05 p.m. — Police responded to a call from a woman on the 500 block of Gregory Street saying a car had been parked in front of a trailer all day with its car doors open, a child’s seat out of the car and the front door of the trailer open. The neighbor had not seen anyone all day.

7:42 p.m. — A woman on the 600 block of McHugh Road called to complain the U.S. Census Bureau was harassing her with phone calls. They kept calling her and asking questions but told her she was not required to answer them. But they kept calling back.

Wednesday, May 14

7:24 p.m. — A 38-year-old woman reported jewelry had been stolen from her home on the 200 block of Neitzel Drive. She first noticed the missing rings after a visit from two friends. The friends denied taking the two rings, valued at least $1200 and one ring that was her mother’s 30th anniversary ring with 30 diamonds of unknown value.

10:51 p.m. — Holmen police assisted the La Crosse County sheriff’s office with investigation of an assault of a 41-year-old man on the W6700 block of Abbey Road.

Thursday, May 15

3:10 p.m. — Police assisted a student at Holmen High School who had a head injury and was light-headed.

5:15 p.m. — Holmen police assisted the La Crosse County sheriff’s office with investigation of a reported gun at Ross Park. The mother of a child called police to report that someone had displayed a gun, possibly a handgun, to several students while at Ross Park. The man with the gun left the park but police found the vehicle parked on the 300 block of Ponderosa.

Saturday, May 17

1:57 a.m. — Police responded to a complaint of a man and woman fighting in an apartment with children present on the 600 block of Amy Drive.

10:12 a.m. — A 12-year-old boy was referred to social services for disorderly conduct and arson after starting two fires in the woods off North Cherry Lane for which the fire department was called. The boy had thought he had stomped out the fires but when he went back to check at the scene, the fire was burning too much and he contacted an adult to call 911.

Sunday, May 18

4:22 a.m. — A 22-year-old Rockland man was arrested after stealing his girlfriend’s car from the 200 block of Carter Place. He was charged with domestic disorderly conduct and operating a motor vehicle without owner’s consent.

4:30 p.m. — An employee at the Kwik Trip on Holmen Drive reported a gas drive-off of $45.85.

6:34 p.m. — An employee at the Kwik Trip on Holmen Drive reported a gas drive-off of $10. A man came in and purchased beer but did not pay for the gas.

Monday, May 19

5:28 a.m. — A person called police about a car parked on the 3500 block of Highway 35 that had its windows smashed out. Police had been unable to make contact with the owner.

Wednesday, May 14

1:42 p.m. — Fire call on Coachlite Court North for a carbon monoxide alert.

Thursday, May 15

10:30 a.m. — Fire and first responder call on Crossing Meadow Drive for a motor vehicle accident with injuries.

11:14 a.m. — Fire call on Highway 16 for an electrical fire.

12:40 p.m. — First responder call on Quincy Street for a possible suicide attempt.

3:48 p.m. — First responder call on 12th Avenue South for a person having breathing problems.

4:58 p.m. — Fire and first responder call on East Avenue North for a motor vehicle accident with injuries.

8:37 p.m. — Fire call on 10th Avenue North for a hazardous condition.

Friday, May 16

2:07 p.m. — Fire call on Quincy Street for a bomb scare.

8:15 p.m. — First responder call on Koss Road for a person who fell from a horse.

No time given — Fire call on Highway 16 for a grass fire.

Saturday, May 17

8:05 a.m. — First responder call on Mason Street for a person injured in a fall.

8:02 p.m. — First responder call on Critter Court for a person with a possible stroke.

Sunday, May 18

1:11 p.m. — First responder call on main Street for a person who was unconscious.

3:18 p.m. — Fire call on Oak Avenue South for a combustible or flammable gas incident.

9:22 a.m. — First responder call on Streblow Street for a person injured in a fall.

1:24 p.m. — First responder call on the 300 block of Redwood Court for a person who was ill.

5:23 p.m. — First responder call on the 100 block of Sheffield Drive for a person who was having chest pains.

10:30 p.m. — First responder call on the 900 block of Eastwood Street for a person who was ill.

Monday, May 12

4:31 p.m. — First responder call on the 200 block of Main Street North for a person injured in a fall.

10:12 p.m. — First responder call on the west 7600 block of Sylvester Road for a person having chest pains.

Tuesday, May 13

1:08 p.m. — Fire call on the North 7700 block of Amsterdam Prairie road for an electrical fire.
