Army Pvt. Benjamin B. Scheller graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He is the son of Anita Scheller of Holmen and Steve Scheller of Westfield, Wis.
The following Onalaska High School students achieved scores at the recent regional French speaking contest at Aquinas High School high enough to qualify for state competition: Sarah Strack, Andrea Jedele, Andrew Santoso, Barbara Jedele, Robin Earlywine, Keagan Adams, Angela McMahon and Joey Nordstrom. Holmen High School students who also qualified for state included Rachel Dunne and Nathan Tuma. Other students who participated in the contest included Katelyn Bjorge from Holmen and Madeline Davidson, Steven Rockwood, Cole Nelson, Livia Ganz, Gesa Huffman, Kate Bird and Kaitlyn Bruden from Onalaska.
Tyler Best, a Luther College sophomore from Onalaska performed the role of Monostatos in a performance of Mozart’s “The Magic Flute” Best is the son of Mike and Deb Best of Onalaska. He is majoring in biology at Luther.
Jennie Lenz (pharmacy services management and pharmacy technician) of Holmen and Linda Calkins (pharmacy technician) of Onalaska graduated from Lakeshore Technical College in Cleveland, Wis.
David Strittmater of Onalaska graduated from North Iowa Area Community College during the spring commencement ceremony.
Sarah Brown of Onalaska was named to the fall semester 2007 dean’s list at Berklee College of Music in Boston.
Hannah Scholze is studying literature in England as part of an off-campus May Term course at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. “England: A Literary Tour” offers on-site study of places of historical, cultural and literary significance. Students visit London, Bath, Oxford, Stratford, the Lake District, Edinburgh, York, Cambridge and Canterbury.
