Minds in Motion tour ready to roll

On Saturday, June 14, 2008 the Minds in Motion Bicycle Tour will once again roll through Onalaska and surrounding communities. Hundreds of bicyclists will take to the roads in and around Onalaska.

The Minds in Motion Bicycle Tour is a one-day bike tour scheduled to start and finish at Onalaska Middle School on Quincy Street. The tour offers riders a choice of four levels of difficulty:

  • Takin’ the Trail is a 10-mile family ride on the Great River State Trail. This is great for families with young children. All children 6 and younger ride free. A state trail pass is required and can be purchased at registration on Saturday morning.

  • Pedalin’ the Plains is a 16-mile, relatively flat road route.

  • Crusin’ the Coulees is 34 miles of moderate hills, flats, and beautiful valleys.

  • Hammerin’ the Hills is 60 miles of hills, two major climbs, plains and gorgeous valleys.

    Riders will receive a free T-shirt, rest stop refreshments, sag wagon support and free lunch.

    Registration begins at 7 a.m. with a mass start at 8 a.m. Costs range from $10 to $20 for registration, before June 7, to $15 to $25 for registration the day of the ride.

    The Minds in Motion Bicycle Tour is a benefit for the elementary and middle schools of Onalaska, with the primary objective of promoting children’s health, wellness and nutrition through the Fit Kids program.
