Today’s sunny skies are expected to give way to the threat of more rain, possibly heavy, for the next few days.
The National Weather Service reports a warm front will bring showers and thunderstorms late tonight into Wednesday, but an approaching cold front later Wednesday and into Thursday will bring a greater threat for heavy rain and possible severe weather.
Rainfall amounts from 1 to 4 inches look likely for Wednesday through Thursday, which could mean more flooding for areas that were hit with anywhere from 6 to 10 inches of rain over the weekend, the weather service reports.
“With the grounds well saturated, much of this would run off into rivers and streams already high with recent rainfall, leading to more river flooding, along with the increased probability of county-wide flooding,” the weather service warns.
Tonight brings a 40 percent chance of rain, but that chance increases to 60 percent through Thursday night.
