LETTER: Support Hancock for state Assembly

We have a chance to get someone who actually understands what the people of the 94th Assembly District are experiencing. Someone who understands that if you can’t afford to pay for an office call to a doctor to begin with, then health savings accounts are not going to do you any good. Someone who understands that education is not just another political chess piece.

Cheryl Hancock was raised on a farm in her youth, was a contributing working member of the family, and experienced the pain as the family farm was sold because they could not make a go of it. She understands the problems of farmers.

She was a member of a working family, whose father was a union shop steward. A family steeped in the traditions of an honest wage for an honest day’s work. A family that had to make hard economic choices and exercise fiscal responsibility. She understands the difficulties of the workers of the area.

She is the executive director of the award-winning La Crosse area Red Cross chapter. As such, she has had to develop and meet budgets, manage personnel, maintain inventories, and set priorities. She understands the plight of the small business owners of the district.

She is the president of the Holmen School Board. She is familiar with being responsible for taxpayer’s dollars, compromises in establishing budgets, coordinating the needs and efforts of various units of the school district, and bringing conflicting demands to a successful resolution. She understands the nature and responsibility of public service.

She would be a great representative for the 94th Assembly District.
