Sgt. Nick Radloff
.
Nick Radloff left Onalaska almost seven years ago to join the U.S. Marine Corps, which led to a tour of duty in Iraq as a combat photographer. He’s hoping his duties will soon bring him home.

Radloff, who is a sergeant based in Yuma, Ariz., now serves as photo chief and information systems coordinator for the combat camera unit at the Yuma base.

He’s working on getting a transfer both in location and duties. As early as next January, he hopes to be working as a recruiter out of the La Crosse recruiting station.

When he does come back, Radloff will be toting a special piece of hardware: the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.

Radloff earned the medal for performing “his demanding duties in an examplary and highly professional manner,” the award citation says. “His leadership and flawless combat cameraman skills contributed to the outstanding success of the command’s combat camera mission.”

Radloff’s innovative application of his computer skills and networking knowledge also were cited as part of the reason for the honor.

Radloff is married and he and his wife, Angie, have two children: Nine, 5, and Darrek Lee, 3.
