Holmen's Junior Legion baseball team remained perfect with a 9-7 and 16-2 doubleheader sweep of Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau Monday.
Jon Powell earned the win in game one, pitching the third through sixth innings in relief of Bennett Johnson. Bryce Cejka earned a save.
Holmen trailed 3-0 through 1 1/2 innnings, but batted around in the third, including a two-run single from Zach Glaunert, to take a 5-4 lead. Taylor Hauser also doubled in the rally, while Joe Burge forced in a run by drawing a bases-loaded hit batsmen.
The Legion extended its lead with three more runs in the fourth, including a Burge two-run single and a Glaunert RBI single. Hauser and Johnson began the rally with back-to-back knocks.

Holmen earned its fourth win in the season-opening six-game winning streak Saturday at Onalaska, earning an 11-8 decision. Ross Kerska did not allow an earned run over the first four innings to get the victory, striking out three.
Johnson paced the Legion offense with four hits, including two doubles. Holmen held on despite Onalaska rebounding from a 10-1, fourth-inning deficit.
“We're playing well,” Legion head coach Matt Jessessky said. “It's been fun so far.”
The Legion pulled out to that lead in part on a three-run third, including a Jacob Matl two-run single. Hauser began the surge with a one-out double, with Tony Rybold singling and stealing second to set the stage for Matl.
The second and third wins in the streak came June 11, a 7-3 and 4-3 sweep at Sparta. Ethan Bock was the hero in game two, as his no-out, two-run single in the bottom of the fifth of the scheduled five-inning game allowed Hauser and Cejka to score
Johnson earned the win in game one, with Johnson, Bock and Jim Clark scoring early, before Burge, Powell, Bock and Clark scored in Holmen's four-run fourth.
The winning streak could be challenged in this weekend's Sparta tournament. Holmen plays Prairie du Chien at 9 a.m. and the La Crosse A's at 1 p.m. Saturday, while playing consecutive games with Chippewa Falls and Hudson beginning at 11 a.m. Sunday. The Legion also hosted the A's, the summer team for Aquinas, Thursday (after the Courier deadline).
