Jill Preeshl, a 2007 Holmen High School graduate and Onalaska resident who plays collegiately at NC2A Division 2 Upper Iowa, finished 16th at Monday and Tuesday's Wisconsin Women's State Golf Association/Wisconsin Women's LPGA state stroke play championships at the Reedsburg Country Club.
Preeshl, playing out of Coulee Golf Bowl in Onalaska, stood in 18th in the tournament's gross score division after Monday rounds of 12-over-par 84 and 82. She improved to her final position of 16th, in the top half of the gross division's 32 players, with her Tuesday round of 76.
“Everything finally clicked for me today,” Preeshl said after Tuesday's round. “I haven't been playing a lot of competitive rounds this summer. I've been working more on little things.”
Preeshl had two birdies during her Tuesday round. She begins her sophomore season at Upper Iowa Labor Day weekend in Michigan.
“I was close to stringing four (birdies) in a row today,” Preeshl said. “My putting is getting pretty good.”
Preeshl is the daughter of Jay and Renee Preeshl.
